Clove essential oil should be handled with extra caution as it can cause severe irritation when used improperly. When it is used, make sure to use water to dilute it down.

The various pieces of the clove plant are used to create this powerful essential oil. It has a strong scent and is yellowish in color.
Clove combines well with a myriad of different spices and oils. It has also been used in different capacities, sometimes as a food seasoning and other times as a medicine. The health benefits of clove are numerous but mainly aim towards dental care.

Are you trying to find love? Try using clove as a powerful aphrodisiac or even as a stress relief method when things don’t pan out well.
Clove cigarettes are an interesting alternative to smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes. People were long under the false assumption that clove cured cancer but that theory has since proved false.

Lemon essential oil may cause some skin irritation so be sure to proceed with caution. It will also become less effective if it comes into contact with the sun. Around the world, lemon is known as an effective treatment for many ailments.

Lemon essential oil is a bit reminiscent of the fruit that it comes from, and as such is a greenish yellow color. It also bears the same smell as traditional lemons and can blend well with some other essential oils.
Lemon works great in the kitchen and as an oil. It is soothing so use it if you’re feeling particularly down and out. The aroma of lemon has been known to be helpful in memory and concentration techniques. It also works quite effectively in asthma treatment.

The potent amount of Vitamin C found in Lemon oil happens to make it a great immune system booster. It helps to stir up blood circulation and get white blood cells going as well. Lemon is often used as a cleaning solution because of its powerful scent and bacteria fighting abilities.

It also has anti-bacterial properties when used correctly. Try using it to prevent bacterial growth. It also works effectively to combat infections without adversely affecting the rest of your body. Thyme also happens to be an effective memory booster and mood lifter. Coincidentally, Thyme aromatherapy oil also works to get rid of pesky insects. Also try using it for its ability to treat bad breath and strong body odor.

If you’re just starting out in the world of essential oils and aromatherapy then there are a couple of oils that will guide your transition into this world. After learning about aromatherapy basics and finding these first essential oils then you will need some method to spread them around your home. This is where aroma diffusers come in. They are highly effective in this regard and promote the spread of scents into your lungs.

An aroma diffuser will work greatly in your favor as it serves to effectively distribute the essential oils and when used in culmination with other diffusion techniques there is no better way to see results. After setting the diffuser up all you’ll have to do is sit back and relax.
There are various types of diffusers so finding one that suits you and your needs is as simple as exploring the various options.

Essential Oil Properties

The various mechanics and chemicals of essential oils are what make them so beneficial in the use of aromatherapy. While most happen to smell amazing, this is just a side benefit of their truly extraordinary properties. It is ironic that they are called “essential” oils because although their name implies that they are basic, they are actually very complicated chemicals. Essential oil ingredients are usually made of carbon and hydrogen atoms.

If you fully understand all of the chemical compounds in essential oils you can work to make sure that you avoid the dangerous compounds and separate real essential oil ingredients from fake ones. This knowledge is critical to the future of aromatherapy and its acceptance as a legitimate practice by the mainstream scientific community.

Various Chemicals Found in Essential Oils

Just some of the many chemicals found in essential oils are phenols, alcohols, and monoterpenes. These various chemicals often match up with some of the chemicals that big-name pharmaceutical companies use in their drug compounds. The primary difference between the two is that organic compounds are, most of the time, much safer to use and even more effective than their prescription drug counterparts. Digging deeper into the nature of these powerful chemicals is the key to success in aromatherapy. After learning and mastering the effects of these chemicals you’ll come to find that aromatherapy can be used in a wide variety of applications and settings that you wouldn’t expect. Don’t let the “aroma” confuse you, aromatherapy is a complex practice that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Few things compare to a nice long bath. Besides the obvious hygienic results, baths are a soothing and therapeutic process that few other relaxation methods can mimic. Aromatherapy baths are the latest thing in the area of relaxing baths. You’ll see some of the top spas using these kinds of baths to help relax customers, but you don’t need a spa membership to enjoy these same benefits at home.

The Aromatherapy Bath Experience

The aromatherapy bath is perhaps one of the most relaxing things imaginable. After a long day at work or a stressful evening, nothing puts you in a resting mood better than warm water and soothing scents. Eventually, you’ll find yourself relaxing in the warm water with every lingering thought slipping away as a calm feeling of relaxation overtakes your mind and thoughts. The smells are whatever you decide. Whether it be lavender or lemon is entirely up to you, perhaps a combination of both. After the bath, you stagger into your bedroom with a feeling of relaxation so intense that you find it hard to stand. Laying in your bed you reminiscence about the last hour you spent in the bath and how much you look forward to repeating the process tomorrow night.

Leave the Spas, Go Home

The benefits of aromatherapy aren’t confined to expensive bath or spa salons. Instead, purchase your own aromatherapy ingredients and create the perfect spa environment in the comfort of your own bathroom. You’ll be that much happier when you can stumble right into your room and directly to bed. Then you’ll be able to repeat the same process the next day.

Essential Ingredients

Some people have a hard time finding the right products in their local stores. If this is the case for you then just be sure to check out some stores online. You can easily find the products that you’re looking for online and you don’t even need that many.

Try some great bath oils for the experience. Be sure to pick up some aromatherapy candles to set the right mood. Nothing beats a comfortable bath in your own home. So when you think of planning that amazing aromatherapy bath, be sure to plan it at home to save yourself some extra money and time. After all, you’ll be so relaxed after the bath that you would be unable to drive home and not fall asleep at the wheel.

Aromatherapy is the art of utilizing the effectiveness and healing powers of aromas to alleviate stress or other physical and emotional ailments. If you truly understand the sense of smell then you know how powerful it can be and how it often sends you reminiscing about some fond memory in your past. Many people regard this powerful sense as coming secondary to sight and hearing but they couldn’t be more mistaken. These senses are rounded and the loss of smell would drain satisfaction from the happiest of times.

Although it may come off as silly, smells do have legitimate healing capacities and there are many benefits of aromatherapy oils. Have you ever smelled a fresh flower and felt instantly soothed? This was the power of aromatherapy at work. Perhaps you’ve been congested and used eucalyptus as a solution; once again you have utilized the power of organic materials and leveraged them to make you feel better.

Botanical compounds can be broken down into their root components in a couple of different ways. In fact, our early ancestors used organic materials by crushing them down and making them into powerful medicines. These first doctors used their remedies to solve a myriad of problems; including headaches, infection, and inflammation. Nothing has changed about these organic substances except time and they are even more powerful than ever. Plants are useful in essential aromatherapy oils and fragrance oils.

Essential oils are produced by breaking a plant down into its essential elements; this is the basic properties of the plant. One of the most common ways to break a plant down is by using distillation, boiling the plant. The distillation process assures that you maintain all of the important and productive elements of the plant. Essential oils work powerfully in several different capacities as antibiotics, painkillers, and decongestants, just to name a few.

Fragrance oils are easier to produce; the plants being used are squished and the remaining material is used for its scent. They’re often placed into soaps or lotions. Fragrance aromatherapy oils act more powerfully as emotional altering agents and don’t have as many healing properties. They’re often burned as incense for their temporary calming effects.
Essential aromatherapy oils can be consumed physically or applied topically to utilize their benefits. For example, clove oil can be placed onto a tooth to make it feel better and peppermint oil can be used to relieve congestion. Aromatherapy oils are great if you’re looking for an alternative treatment to your problems.

Peppermint essential oil is non toxic and, if diluted properly, a non irritant as well. It is knwon to cause mild irritation when applied to vigorously. Peppermint usage stems far back but the information we have places its usage to around 1000 BC by the Egyptians. Chinese and Japanese cultures also used the herb for medicinal purposes.

Unlike some other aromatherapy products that have been disregarded, peppermint has been extensively studied and proven to be effective. Peppermint aromatherapy oil works well for breathing conditions and congestion problems. When used in aromatherapy, it is known to be effective against mental anguish and digestive issues. It also works well as a topical treatment for improving oily skin.
